100 BYD buses form the largest electric bus fleet in South America.

       "Electric vehicles will be the next millennium plan for the entire human race. The arrival of 100 electric buses（HC-B-2676） will significantly improve the quality of life of the Chilean people. We are the first generation affected by climate change and the last generation to reverse the whole situation. Chilean President Sebastián Piñera expressed concern much about green travel and global climate change.

       On 13th，December ，2018, the Chilean government held an electric bus delivery ceremony in Santiago. 100 BYD K9 pure electric buses were unveiled, and their fleet matrix was red and white. After two days, the customized "Super Chile Red" BYD pure electric bus team will appear on the trunk road of the main city of Santiago and will be operated by the bus operator Metbus.It is reported that these electric buses are equipped with BYD's latest battery technology and equipped with USB charging interface. They officially went offline in Nanjing in September and arrived in Santiago after 45 days of the sea route.

       Wang Chuanfu, chairman and president of BYD（HC-B-1626）, said at the delivery ceremony of the Nanjing plant in September that “100 electric buses were delivered to Chile. This is not a simple business practice, but a promise of the Chilean government to improve the urban environment and public health. This not only created the largest electric bus fleet in South America, but also took a historic step in the electrification of Chilean buses."
