On March 14, 2018, FlixBus, Germany’s largest inter-city bus operator, announced on the 13th that it will start trials in France and Germany in April 2018 for long-distance passenger transport using pure electric vehicles. This will be the first route in Europe. According to German media reports, FlixBus is equipped with electric buses produced by Chinese companies Yutong and BYD.
FlixBus, based in Munich, Germany, said on the same day that it plans to start an all-electric long-distance bus between Paris and Amiens in April 2018. The trial run will be approximately 150 kilometers from the total length. The company will then open another pure-electric long-distance passenger line between Hessen and Baden-Württemberg in the early summer of this year.
Comprehensive German "Business Daily" and "Focus Online" report, FlixBus's first two pure electric buses used to serve the European market are China Yutong ICe12 (for the French market) and China BYD C9 (for the German market). The former has 53 seats and the maximum speed is 100 kilometers per hour. The latter has 40 seats and the maximum speed is 90 kilometers per hour.
